Review: Erno Laszlo Detoxifying Cleansing Set

Hey loves! Today’s review will be over the Ecotools Voxbox that I received for free from Influenster. If you don't already know what Influenster is, you can go to my last review to learn more and sign up.

I am sure you are wanting to know the 4-1-1 on these makeup tools so let’s jump right in and get started. I have been putting them to the test over the last three to four weeks so I could be sure to give you my honest pro's and cons. The box came with a brush starter set, full powder brush, perfecting blender duo, and makeup brush cleansing cloths. Ecotools prides themselves on their products being eco-friendly and 100% vegan. Which was all a plus for me.

Ecotools Starter Set & Full Powder Brush

The starter set (pictured above and below this paragraph) came with a powder/blush brush, concealer brush, shadow brush, spoolie, angled liner brush, and cosmetic makeup bag which are all supposed to help in achieving an everyday look.

All the brushes were very soft and I found the quality of the bristles to be nice and easily comparable to that of higher-end brushes. I used the powder brush to wipe away excess setting powder the first time I tried it out but I found it to be more effective at applying setting powder to my entire face or specific areas that I just needed a light coverage of powder. The powder/blush brush worked great at lightly applying my blush to where the coverage looked natural and not too harsh. I used the spoolie to comb my brows before I applied my brow pomade and honestly it reminded me of all my other spoolies that are currently in my collection so no problems there. I did find the shadow brush to be surprisingly dense which worked great when I needed to pack in shadows for a smokey eye that I did. The concealer brush was too small in my opinion to apply concealer all over my face, but it could have also just been the concealer I was using. I didn't find it necessary to take the time at wiping my concealer off the brush it came with and using this. However, I think it will work perfectly for the times I use my Anastasia Beverly Hill's contour kit. My least favorite brush would have to be the angled liner brush. The bristles were too thick and would have made it impossible for me to get the precise brows I want as well as eye liner. So, that's a pass for me on that one. I thought the cosmetic bag was cute and convenient for those of us who carry suitcases as purses (joking, but my purses are massive) and could fit a good number of things in there with some extra room to spare.

Makeup Brush Cleansing Cloths

I must say that I had high hopes for the makeup cleansing cloths. I can sometimes be a germaphobe, especially when it comes to my makeup brushes. Each time I use them, I end up washing them that night. I am trying to focus more on my skincare and I know that re-applying yesterday’s germs is not what's popping, for me. As you can see in the picture above, the cleansing cloths are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and made for daily use after you have finished using your brushes. I decided to try them out with my eyeshadow brushes after a look I did and unfortunately I was disappointed. I did not see that it cleaned them much at all to be honest and I ended up still having to wash the brushes after that. Yes, it did remove some (with force) of the surface makeup on the brush but I think that's something that could have been done with a tissue.

Perfecting Blender Duo

When it comes to beauty blenders I can be very picky with which ones I like. Probably because it is one of the one items in my makeup routine that I use the most of. I just love the way blenders (the right one) press in my foundations and concealer into my skin with a natural finish and doesn't leave it looking cakey like makeup is sitting on top of my skin. First, let’s start off with my opinions on the large blender. It was my first time using one with that shape and I was excited to see how it was going to work. Before I use my blenders, I wet them, let them absorb water, squeeze the water out, and use them damp. The big one expanded to a good size when wet and had a nice balance between firm and soft (leaning a little more on the softer side). I liked the way the large blender applied my foundation and I found the flat shape to be helpful in covering a larger area of my face. The small blender was much firmer even despite me using it damp and honestly I did not like it for blending in my concealer. The flat shape at the top made it hard for me to blend around my eye area in the corners like my rain drop blender would have.

I did not get around to making a video showing how I used every brush (I'll save that for my brush video in the future) but I did use the brushes and blenders for a look that I recently did so I included the video down below.

Let me know what you think of Ecotools products if you have them and if not, which brush/blender do you think you would be interested in trying?

    1. Hey Emma,

Yes, I loved the larger sponge but not so much a fan of the smaller one. However I'm sure it will be great for other things. Maybe I'll try it with my cream contour.
