Review: Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer (SPF 15)

Hey everyone! Can you seriously believe this is my third blog this month? I know, I know. I am just as surprised as you are. I have only been writing on beauty this month but I will soon be adding some inspirational and lifestyle post. With the extra time this summer, I have been able to spend more time focusing on my blog and social media. I hope to be able to keep up with this though and always have new content because I love to share. However, I can't make any promises so for now let's just celebrate the three weeks and get into today's review which will be over the Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer (SPF 15).

What are the deets on the product, girl?

This is a new moisturizer that I am trying out this summer in order to protect my skin under my makeup and in general. Using a moisturizer that has SPF in the summertime (and probably year-round) is important because it helps to protect your skin from sun damage. Makeup on top of your skin does not protect it from the sun and I believe more SPF is needed even if you use a foundation that has SPF in it. Currently, I have dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin so it helps that this is hydrating, fragrance free, oil free, and non-comedogenic. This moisturizer also comes in a formula with a SPF of 50 but I chose the lower one because the higher SPF could possibly be irritating to my sensitive skin.

The consistency of this moisturizer is creamy, wears perfectly under my makeup and does a great job at moisturizing my face. The only thing is, like with all SPF, I have to be careful not to accidentally get it in my eyes or it burns. Of course no one is sitting there applying sunscreen inside of their eyes but you would be surprised how easy it is to touch something and then touch your eyes. Even with my beauty blender touching my face and then going around my eyes it will cause irritation in my eyes as well. So I try to just be aware of what I am doing and where I am putting it at to avoid it.

I purchased my moisturizer at Ulta, but it does retail for about $12 at Walmart. The bottle itself contains 4 ounces of product and a little bit goes a long way. I easily see this lasting me for months.

Benefits of using sunscreen/SPF

Just to name a few:
  • Your body needs shielding from harmful rays.
  • Sunscreen has been proven to decrease the development of skin cancer.
  • Helps to prevent skin discoloration. Something that a lot of WOC already struggle with.
  • Slows down the development of wrinkled, pre-mature aging skin.

Whats the verdict?

So far my skin hasn't had any breakouts or reactions to it and I have been using it for almost 6 weeks. Most days I don't wear makeup, apart from doing my brows, so I will usually just put this on as the last step in my skincare routine and go on about my day. This is definitely a product I would recommend, especially if your skin type matches mine. I plan on doing a skincare review soon over all the products that I'm currently using right now that are working for me. I haven't had any new or active breakouts in almost 2 to 3 months so I feel that I can finally share what I am doing.

I do hope that you look into applying a moisturizer that has SPF in it or even adding in an SPF to your skincare routine. It does no good to take care of your skin if you don't protect it from the sun. Your older self will be glad that you did. Whats your favorite SPF?

    1. I really love the moisturizers from the Mario Badescu line. You could use that and this one on top for added SPF.

  2. I've seen this brand all over and have heard so many good things about it. I have acne prone, oily/combination skin so I am always nervous to introduce new products to my routine. You can never get too much SPF though, so I may try it out :)

  5. The said ingredients are supposed to be helpful in treating acne by enhancing cell turnover. A word of caution to consider though, some of these exfoliating additives can increase flaking and peeling, and may also irritate your skin so it is highly advisable to seek the help of your dermatologist first.best bleaching cream for black skin reviews
